It is a short form for Tanzania Aeronautical Information Management Officer's Association formally known as Tanzania Aeronautical Information Services Officer's Association (TAISOA). The association's name was transformed by the recent transition of aeronautical information services to aeronautical information Management following the Global aviation changes.
Aims and Objectives:
- To operate as a non- profit and non- political association of aeronautical information officers in Tanzania
- To protect and safe guard the interest of the aeronautical information profession
- To promote the flow of information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of international air navigation.
- To promote and uphold a high standard of knowledge and professional efficiency among aeronautical information officers.
- To offer advice to individual or other associations on technical matters that fall within its field.
- To forge mutual beneficial affiliations with other aeronautical information officers associations in the world and other organizations affecting civil aviation.
- To issue an official publication or subscribe materials to mass media for the purpose of disseminating awareness and creating public interest/knowledge on the aims and objectives of the association.
As defined in literature AIM service refers to services
that provide interactive, on demand of aeronautical information interchange
among the aviation stakeholders to support safe, efficient and regulatory
flight operations that maximize the system capacity. The objective of these
services to countries which facilitates air transportation is to go in hand
with the technological changes and social demands that have increased
complexity in the air traffic and air transportation in general. Modern
aircrafts for example, are equipped with special airborne computers to receive
information projected from the ground. The information is collected, and
analyzed to produce precise and timely information that can be transmitted
through modern means. The information may be about airports accessibility,
serviceability of equipment at airports, Radio frequencies, landing procedures,
charts, flight plan, airport charges, various state procedures, weather
reports, and so many others.
AIM services are provided by the AIM section of the
country which is under air navigation services division of the TCAA. The services are provided at the headquarters
of TCAA and at the JNIA in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Mwanza and Kilimanjaro
(international airports) and also in all other TCAA manned aerodromes such as
Kigoma, Mtwara, Pemba, Arusha, Tanga, Iringa, Songea, Tabora, Mafia, Mbeya and
Dodoma.
